I’m Pieter (simply pronounced ‘Peter’), a seasoned Product Design leader based in West London, UK. For over 12 years I’ve provided my expertise on Digital Design on anything from small charity websites to large set-top-box projects. I’ve delivered UX/UI for a variety of platforms including TV, responsive web, native devices and desktop. Below you’ll explore some key projects of products that serve millions of households across Europe. I’d love to share more of my work with you, so don’t hesistate to get in touch
This feature on Sky Q allows parents to lock their set-top box to access kid-friendly content using only a simple PIN code. I designed the UX and UI around positive feedback coming from an existing Sky Kids mobile app, and applied consistent logic onto our Sky Q set-top-box.
I conceptualised the 3 Word Review app over some downtime during the pandemic in 2020. It allows people to quickly review and discover any local businesses.
One of my early projects at Sky was introducing a Home page on the original Sky+ set-top box. The brief was to better connect our customers with the non-linear content they are paying for, including On Demand and Sky Store. I designed a hub that now connects millions of customers with our best programmes and merchandises them at a glance.
This prototype represents the navigation interaction in the latest Sky Q 2.0 interface. I created this prototype, as well as many other variants, which tested best with users at our user testing centre at Bunnyfoot, in Central London. It improves the use of horizontal space by hiding the menu and merchandising more content as well as bigger hero imagery.

I prototyped this early concept of a new ‘show page’ for programmes on the Sky Q set-top-box. It allows for trailer videos to show continuously from the browse page into this new show page. A quick access button let’s users jump straight into the last viewed point of the programme. Unfortunately, in the final design delivery we could not yet include trailers because of development and performance limitations.

As a first step towards a truly widescreen Sky Q interface, I moved the PiP Mini-tv video from the left into the navigation area. This created a wider content space. This layout of was live for a few years before my latest version (Sky Q 2.0) was implemented.
I delivered Sky Store with my UI Design Team as a self-sustaining product that didn’t require further development. However, before doing so I conceptualised a redesign for Web that is shown here.
During this 6 month internship I created mutiple brand identities and designed web pages for each. During a promotional video project I was responsible for script writing, film directing / producing and DVD menu design. DTP tasks such as designing logos, stickers and outdoor banners.
I was hired on a 2.5 month internship to create a visualization of Statoil’s 2020 strategy. In a small team we created a commercial film for online, internal comms and presentation purposes.
As the key Digital Designer, I was responsible for design work on Video conferencing software serving high- profile clients including Nokia Siemens Networks and Time Warner Cable. I delivered graphic design, UI and front-end development for multiple iOS / Android apps, web and social networks.
Over 7+ years I worked my way up three roles at Sky UK. Projects ranged from responsive web design to full apps for iOS/Android and TV interfaces, and my UX output was directly used by millions of Sky customers across Europe. It was here where I gained in-depth knowledge of world-class design for large demographics within a corporate environment.
I'm currently working at Innovation Group, driving design management across our global regions whilst leading a 4-strong Product Design team. Here I focus on delivering UX solutions specifically for InsureTech, such as insights dashboards and claim management tools, to major clients incuding Tesla, Toyota, Aviva and Enterprise.
This is an honest representation of the skills and experience I’ve built up over the years. With new tools and trends keeping us on our toes, I don’t believe a Product Designer is ever done learning.
